Providence Preschool (Ages 2 – 6)

A Foundation for a Lifetime of Learning

The early years of a child’s life are a time of incredible growth—physically, cognitively, emotionally, and spiritually. At Providence, we embrace this pivotal stage with a carefully prepared Montessori environment that nurtures independence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

Our Preschool and Kindergarten programs are divided into two age-appropriate groups:

Toddler Program (Ages 2–3) – A gentle introduction to a structured learning environment, focusing on sensory exploration, independence, and social-emotional development.
Primary Program (Ages 3–6, including Kindergarten) – A rich, hands-on learning experience designed to guide children through their early academic journey while fostering leadership and confidence.

The Power of the Montessori Environment

Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to engage young learners through sensory-rich materials that encourage hands-on discovery. These carefully crafted materials help children develop essential skills in language, math, and practical life—laying the groundwork for confident, capable learners.

Learning Through the Senses – Children absorb knowledge best when they can touch, manipulate, and explore. Our materials are intentionally designed to engage multiple senses, strengthening cognitive development and fine motor skills.
Encouraging Independence – Even at a young age, children take pride in doing things for themselves. Our environment fosters autonomy, allowing students to build confidence in their abilities.
Developing Internal Motivation – The joy of learning comes from within. We create an atmosphere where children are naturally drawn to discovery, setting the stage for a lifelong love of learning.

The Benefits of Mixed-Age Classrooms

One of the hallmarks of our Montessori approach is our mixed-age classrooms, which mirror natural social structures and create a rich, dynamic learning environment.

Toddler Community (Ages 2–3) – Our youngest learners observe and absorb from slightly older peers, while beginning to form social connections, develop coordination, and learn foundational self-care skills.
Primary Community (Ages 3–6) – Older children naturally take on leadership roles, reinforcing their own learning by mentoring younger peers. Younger children gain confidence and motivation by observing what’s possible at the next stage of development.

This structure not only strengthens academic growth but also fosters empathy, compassion, and servant leadership. Children learn to care for their environment, support their classmates, and recognize their ability to contribute to the well-being of others.
