I am so excited to join this community! I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration with double minors in Accounting  Christian studies from Colorado Christian University. The oldest child of 4 in a pastor’s family, I have experienced life all over the country, following the call of ministry. And most recently have served the last few years as a project manager in a real estate office where I assessed needs,  and connected them to the proper vendors to complete the task at hand. (FUN FACT: In the process I have learned a lot about home repairs,  construction and can diagnose many plumbing and hvac issues by the symptoms. as well as many other tips and tricks.)

When I was young I dreamed of growing up to be my mom!  She was a children’s pastor and did everything to create a safe and fun environment for me to thrive in.

I have always loved to learn, but 3rd grade was hard for me. This is when my family discovered my learning challenges of A.D.D. and Dyslexia. Unfortunately school became unbearable, as my teacher did not understand and worked very hard to conform ME to the curriculum.

By mid year we needed a change and my family decided that homeschooling with focus on my individual needs while letting me grow my passions at my own pace. Looking back God gave me mentors and guides that year who could reignite my love of learning and set me up for a life of always learning, digging and exploring. They didn’t necessarily sit and teach me anything. But I do know they supported me and prayed for me and discipled me so that I felt safe to explore and to fail . They taught me to ask crazy questions and explore to find the answers.

Said the Queen. ‘When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” – Lewis Carroll

By the end of the school year I was not old reading at, but ABOVE grade level. By the time I was in Middle School I was doing high school and college level math and science.

We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
– Walt Disney

I love exploring the why of things and discovering the limits of possibilities. One of my favorite experiences is to see the look on a child’s face when they learn something new. Especially when they struggled to grasp it,  because that moment of clarity is so sweet!

I know children need love, understanding, freedom to explore and create,  and patience as they find their way. I also know kids need to learn to ask for help and it’s OK to not have an answer, but we can seek it together.  My job is not to be the smartest person on the room but to help those who are now where I have been, to continue to grow so that today they can surpass me.

And the truth is, I am still learning to be the best kid myself. I live on  coffee, hugs,  mac & cheese, stories and most importantly Jesus. I am currently learning how to tat lace, how to speak Japanese, and how to build my own yurt.
