Donavon Harbison

I am an experienced educator and instructional coach with over a decade of service in middle and high school mathematics. I graduated from North Carolina Central University with a B.S. in Mathematics and a concentration in Education, and I began my career in North Carolina public schools, where I was honored to receive the Rookie of the Year award for excellence in teaching. Since then, I’ve taught in a variety of settings—including traditional classrooms, virtual academies, and charter schools—and I now serve as a coach and professional development leader, supporting teachers in data-driven, student-centered instruction.

Beyond the classroom, I’ve been passionate about building programs that support the whole student. I’ve founded and advised leadership and enrichment organizations, led college readiness initiatives, and coached multiple high school sports teams, even earning Coach of the Year honors. My work has always been rooted in helping young people grow not only in their academics, but also in character, confidence, and vision for their future.

At home, I am a husband, father of four, and a homesteader. My family and I raise chickens, tend a garden, and are learning the daily lessons that come from working close to the land. That life has taught me patience, stewardship, and the beauty of seeing God’s hand in growth that happens slowly but surely. I carry those same lessons into the classroom, where I believe each student deserves the time, care, and encouragement to become who God created them to be.

As a Christian father and husband, I see education as a calling. I value the partnership between teachers and parents and believe every student is created with unique gifts and purpose. I look forward to partnering with you as we guide your children not only to succeed academically but also to thrive spiritually, emotionally, and socially. Together, we can help them discover their God-given gifts and prepare for the future with confidence and faith.
